A late arrival to international football and the very good form of Jorge Campos, kept out Adolfo Rios of playing the USA 1994 and France 1998 World Cups, though he really experienced triumph with National team in the Copa America of 1997, when he was named 'Goalkeeper of the Cup'. In the league, has always shown great form and was champion with Necaxa in the late 90's. Rios is not like many European GK that as they get older they are slower, his great physical shape kept him ready and fast for any type of shot. Suffered a very serious injury in early 2000 that kept him out of Copa Libertadores play-off.
