The tough-tackling Jeremies is one of the few players from the former East Germany to have emerged since reunification. He first entered the Bundesliga spotlight in the 1997/98 season with some masterful displays with TSV 1860 München, and he soon made the short journey to FC Bayern München. He made his German debut in 1997, and was one of the few German success stories at the 1998 World Cup. The all-round midfielder scored his first international goal in the 1-0 Euro 2000 qualifying win over Finland.
