One of the stars of the Serie A season despite playing for modest Udinese, Fiore received his first call-up to the Italy squad for the February 2000 friendly against Sweden. He shone in the victory over Portugal in April, providing a steady stream of astute passes from midfield. He is the creator at the heart of Udinese’s midfield but can also play in the hole behind the front two. Joined Udinese from Parma AC where he had received only limited chances to impress. Confirmed in Euro 2000 as one of the best midfielders in the world, scored a superb goal v Belgium.
